Skills
What skills are, how to chat with one, how to make your own and how admins manage them.
# Skills A skill is a set of instructions, and sometimes files, that teaches the brain how to do one job well: write a follow-up email, check a contract, prepare a monthly report. Skills sit on the skill tree, where the departments and teams of your company are laid out. You can start any skill you can see from the tree. You can also make your own skill: the brain interviews you, drafts it, and files it on the tree for everyone once you approve. Admins import skills, switch them on and off, and store the keys that skills which run scripts need. In this section: - [What a skill is](https://docs.skilltreeos.ai/skills/what-a-skill-is/): where skills come from and how the brain uses them. - [Skill chats](https://docs.skilltreeos.ai/skills/skill-chats/): starting a skill and filling in what it needs. - [Making a skill](https://docs.skilltreeos.ai/skills/making-a-skill/): the maker wizard, open to every member. - [Changing a skill](https://docs.skilltreeos.ai/skills/changing-a-skill/): from a chat or the editor, with every version kept. - [Managing skills](https://docs.skilltreeos.ai/skills/managing-skills/): for admins.A skill is a set of instructions, and sometimes files, that teaches the brain how to do one job well: write a follow-up email, check a contract, prepare a monthly report.
