Skill tree
Departments, teams and jobs
How to open a department, read a job's card and start a skill.
# Departments, teams and jobs ## Departments and teams Select a department on the wheel or the line to open it. The tree turns the department to the bottom, then its fan grows upward. Inside the fan, each team is a branch and each job is a leaf on it. While a department is open: - **All Departments** takes you back out. - The buttons at either side, labelled **Previous Department** and **Next Department** with the names, move to the neighbouring departments. - **Escape** closes an open job card first, then leaves the department. ## The three kinds of job Every leaf shows its state on its badge: - **Runs on your brain**: it is ready. You can start it. - **Needs setup**: it is there but something is missing, such as a key or a tool. An admin has to finish it. - **Not set up yet**: a roadmap job that nothing runs yet. Some leaves also carry a mark: **Recommended next**, **You've run this** or **Used by your team**. ## A job's card Select a leaf and its card opens. On a wide screen the card docks down the left side and the camera comes in close on the leaf, with the arrow keys moving to the neighbouring leaves. Close it with the **Close** button or **Escape**. The card shows: - The department and team, the job's title and its description. - A line saying what the state means for you. - When the job has them, what it **Uses**, **Needs**, **Connects to** and **Produces**. - **Your team**: how many times your team ran it and when it last ran, as counts only. It never names people. ## Starting a job For a ready job, select **Start**. This opens a chat with the skill loaded. See [Skill chats](https://docs.skilltreeos.ai/skills/skill-chats/). For a job that needs setup, admins see **Finish Setup in Skills**, which opens the skills page. Everyone else sees **Ask an admin to finish setting this up.** A roadmap job has no button. Its card says it is not set up yet.Departments and teams
