Agents and memory
Looks and voices
How an admin gives an agent its own name, role, rules, voice and look.
# Looks and voices Every agent has a name, a role, a list of rules, a voice and a look. Everyone sees the result. Only admins can change it. ## Edit an agent (admin only) Open the agent's page and choose **Edit Agent** (the pencil at the top). You can change: - **Name** and **Role**. - **Voice**: how the agent sounds, in one line of at most 280 characters. For example, "Numbers first, then the caveat; never pads." - **Rules**: one line per rule. Add or remove rules as you need. Choose **Save** followed by the agent's name (for example **Save Finance**), to store your changes; **Cancel** sits beside it. Saving the profile fixes the name, role, rules and voice you typed. If you only change the look, the agent keeps its department's name, so renaming the department still renames the agent. ## Change the look (admin only) In the edit panel, choose **Change Look**. A look is a character from the built-in crew or a face drawn from a text seed, with optional style, colours and an accessory. The dialog is titled `Change Finance's look` (with the agent's own name). You pick from **Crew** or **Or grow one from a seed**, and the preview shows the character in its seven states: Idle, Thinking, Working, Speaking, Done, Needs you and Error. Choose **Save Look** to keep it, or **Cancel**. Everyone sees the look you save. **Reset to Default** returns the agent to its default look. By default the Company Brain has its own character, and each built-in department gets one of the plain crew characters, and a department your admins added gets a face of its own. ## What the voice changes The name, role, rules and voice go into the prompt of every chat with that agent. They shape how the agent answers. They do not change what the agent is allowed to see.Every agent has a name, a role, a list of rules, a voice and a look. Everyone sees the result.
