The brain at the centre
How to open the knowledge map and the knowledge graph from the tree.
# The brain at the centre The brain in the middle of the tree stands for everything the platform knows. Select it and the camera dives into it. The knowledge map opens over the home page, with the top bar still in place. ## The map The knowledge map draws your documents grouped by topic. Open a domain, then a cluster, then a document to see what the brain holds on each subject. The map is rebuilt automatically after documents are added or removed. Read more in [Knowledge map](https://docs.skilltreeos.ai/knowledge/knowledge-map/). ## The graph When your workspace has the knowledge graph turned on, and it already holds something, a switch at the bottom right changes between **Map** and **Graph** (on a narrow window it sits in the top row). The graph shows the people, companies and other things your documents describe, and how they connect. Without the graph, or before it has anything in it, there is no switch. See [Knowledge graph](https://docs.skilltreeos.ai/knowledge/knowledge-graph/). ## Finding your way back At the top left a bar holds a **Back** button and a trail that starts with **Skill tree** and **Company brain**. **Back** steps out one place at a time: out of a document, a cluster or a domain, then out to the tree. **Escape** does the same. Select **Skill tree** in the trail to go straight home. ## If the map is empty The map only shows documents that have been processed. An admin adds documents on the Files page.
