Files from a chat

How to download the files a skill leaves in a chat.

Some skills run scripts and produce files, such as a spreadsheet, a report, or a short MP4 or GIF recorded from an animated design. When a run leaves files, they appear under the answer. A run hands over at most 10 files, each up to 25 MB.

Word documents, Excel workbooks and CSV files open in the panel beside the chat. See Documents beside the chat. Other files appear as download chips showing the file name and its size.

Select a chip to download the file. If the download fails, a message says Couldn’t download followed by the file name. Try again.

Only the person who owns the chat can download its files. Files stay attached to that chat.

Downloads are plain bytes, not web pages that run. Files with the extension .html, .htm or .svg download as generic files rather than opening in the browser. Open them from your computer after downloading if you need to.

A skill that runs scripts uses a working folder tied to the chat. It keeps what it needs between runs in that chat. This does not add documents to the knowledge the brain searches.

Most skills answer inside the chat and leave no files. Skills that run scripts are set up by an admin. See What a skill is.
