Asking and answers
How the brain answers, how to read its citations and sources, and what the tools-used list tells you.
# Asking and answers ## Asking Select **Chats** in the top bar, type in the box at the bottom and press **Enter**. **Shift + Enter** starts a new line. The pill in the box picks your model. Your choice is saved and used for your next messages until you change it. The list holds the models your workspace's key reaches. While the brain works it shows what it is doing, such as **Searching knowledge** or **Searching the web**. The answer then streams in word by word. If your admin has set the reasoning depth to high, the brain first writes a draft, checks it against your company's context and sources, and then shows you the checked answer. That takes longer. Select **Copy Answer** to copy a reply. ## Citations When an answer uses a document, email or web page, it carries small numbered markers such as 1 or 2 in the text. Select a marker to jump to that source. ## Sources Under the answer you see a line such as **3 sources**. Select it to open the list. Each source shows its number and where it came from. Select a source to read the passage the brain used. For web pages, **View source** opens the page in a new tab. Documents come from what your company has shared. Web sources appear only if web search is switched on for your workspace. ## What the brain used Below the answer a **Used** list shows one chip for each tool the brain called, such as searching knowledge, searching the web, using a skill or looking something up in a connected app. A chip can carry the query and, when the tool found something with an address, up to five links. A chip with a warning mark means that call failed. When an answer cannot be finished because the AI model's provider refused the request, is rate limiting or is unavailable, the chat says which in one line and offers **Try Again**, which sends your message again. This list tells you how the answer was built. The tool results themselves are not stored. ## If something goes wrong If the brain cannot finish, the reply shows an error instead of an answer. Try again in a moment. If it keeps happening, tell your admin.Asking
