Roles
What members, admins, the owner and the one super-admin can each do.
# Roles Everyone who signs in is a member or an admin, and one person, the owner, set the business up. One more person, the super-admin, has a single extra power over budgets. ## Members Members can do everything the product offers for everyday work: - Chat with the Company Brain and with department agents. - Read and search files, the knowledge map and the graph. - Use and [make skills](https://docs.skilltreeos.ai/skills/making-a-skill/). Any member can make a skill and file it as their own. - Connect their own account to an app, where an admin allows it. - Give feedback on answers and edit their own profile. ## Admins Admins can also change what the workspace contains and how it behaves: - Upload, replace and delete files, and manage company context. - Import, switch on and off, and remove skills, and shape the skill tree. - Connect apps for the whole company and choose what they share. - Edit agents and approve what goes into shared memory. - Set which departments each person sees under **Settings → People**. - Open **Settings**. Admins see everything. A department limit never applies to them. ## The owner The owner is the person who set the business up. They are an admin with extra powers: under **Settings → People**, only they invite people, change a person's role and remove people, and when payments are on, only they handle billing under **Settings → Billing** (see [Credits and billing](https://docs.skilltreeos.ai/settings/credits-and-billing/)). While payments are on and the plan has a seat limit, the owner also sees how many seats are used above the list, with **Manage Seats** to open Billing. To remove someone, the owner clicks their name and chooses **Remove**, which asks first. Removing someone ends their access straight away; their chats stay in the workspace. The owner cannot be removed or demoted. If you invite someone who already has an account, they are asked to join the next time they sign in, and the invitation shows under **Waiting to join**, with the date it expires, until they do. The owner can **Withdraw** it; until it is withdrawn or accepted it holds a seat. Someone you remove can't be invited again yet. Ask the team that runs your deployment to restore them. ## The super-admin One account is named by your deployment as the super-admin. Only that account can open the **Budget** tab under **Settings**, change the default allowance, and set or reset a person's allowance. Being an admin is not enough. See [Budgets](https://docs.skilltreeos.ai/people-and-access/budgets/). ## How a role is given Roles are set by the owner. The owner gives the role when they invite someone and can change it later: under **Settings → People**, they click the person's name, choose **Member** or **Admin** under **Role**, and choose **Save Changes**.Everyone who signs in is a member or an admin, and one person, the owner, set the business up. One more person, the super-admin, has a single extra power over budgets.
